Sportingbet welcome offer eligibility rules for UK players

The Sportingbet welcome offer is open only to people who have never opened or funded a Sportingbet account and who hold no account with a sister brand under the same licence. This page sets out the eligibility checks and the bet types that stop a challenge from counting.

The new-customer test

Sportingbet's Standard Promotional Terms for the UK define a "new player" or "sign up" promotion narrowly. You qualify only if you have never opened an account with the brand and never deposited into one. A dormant account from years ago, even one you never used, still counts as an account.

Two more rules from Sportingbet's own pages sit on top of that:

At the time of writing (October 2026), the offer itself is the Welcome Challenges package described on our welcome bonus page. Whatever form it takes when you read this, the eligibility rules below come from the general terms and apply regardless.

The shared licence rule

This is the condition that surprises existing gamblers. Sportingbet in Great Britain is operated by LC International Limited, which also runs bwin, Coral, Ladbrokes, PartyPoker and other Entain brands. The help centre explains that, under current regulations, no new accounts are permitted across brands operating under the same licence, and names Coral, bwin and PartyPoker in that group.

In practice:

Your situation Can you open Sportingbet and claim the offer?
No account with any brand in the group Yes, if every other condition is met
Existing Coral, bwin or PartyPoker account No — a new Sportingbet account will not be permitted
Several accounts opened before 1 July 2026 You may keep them, but you cannot open new ones
Old Sportingbet account, closed or unused No — you are not a new player under the terms

Accounts registered before 1 July 2026 were opened under the Gibraltar licence active at the time, which is why they are allowed to stay. If you are unsure whether an old account with a related brand counts, ask customer support before you register rather than after.

Household, age and identity

Reviews of the current offer state it is limited to one per household. Two adults at the same address should not expect both accounts to receive the welcome rewards, even if both accounts are perfectly legitimate.

Age and identity are checked for everyone. You must be 18 or over, and Sportingbet verifies your name, age and address before any withdrawal. Rewards earned during the welcome period can still be paid out only once verification is complete, so it pays to upload documents early. What gets checked, and how long it takes, is covered in our verification guide.

Payment methods that cause problems

A large share of failed sign ups come down to the payment method rather than the offer terms.

Method Accepted for UK accounts? Why it matters
Debit card in your name Yes The standard choice; withdrawals to debit cards carry no fee
Credit card No Banned for UK gambling since 14 April 2020
Credit card loaded into an e-wallet or Apple Pay No The ban covers credit funding through any wrapper
Debit or prepaid card from a Money Service Business (Wise, N26, Post Office Travel) No Refused since 15 July 2020
Card or wallet in someone else's name No Every method must be registered to the account holder

Two further limits are worth knowing. UK customers can use no more than three active payment methods in a rolling 30 days, and withdrawals follow a closed loop, going back to the method you deposited with wherever possible. Testing four different cards in your first week is therefore a bad idea.

Bets that leave a challenge unchanged

Even a fully eligible player can place bets that simply do not register against a challenge. Going by reviews of the current terms, plus Sportingbet's general rules on opt-ins, these are the usual culprits:

What you do Effect on the challenge
Bet before opting in under Offers Does not count; only bets placed after opt-in qualify
Cash out the qualifying bet, in full or in part Excluded
Place a system bet Excluded
Back an enhanced acca or a price boost Excluded
Stake the bet with a FreeBet or a token Excluded
Choose a selection shorter than 1/2 (1.50) Below the minimum odds
Use Edit My Bet on the qualifying bet Can affect eligibility, because an edit is a cash out plus a new bet
Bet after day 30 from registration Outside the window

None of these closes your account or removes the offer; they just mean that particular bet is ignored. Place a fresh qualifying bet within the 30 days and the challenge carries on.

A separate restriction applies to the Back-Up Bet token you earn from the in-play challenge: it cannot be attached to a system bet or a Build A Bet.

Irregular play and other ways to lose rewards

The Standard Promotional Terms let Sportingbet cancel bonuses linked to irregular play. The examples given include low-margin betting, hedging and placing 50% or more of a bonus on a single bet. Backing both outcomes of the same match to guarantee a qualifying bet is a classic example of hedging.

Separately, bonuses are normally paid within seven days of qualifying unless the offer states otherwise. A missing reward after that point is worth raising with customer support, quoting the offer name from your Offer History.

Frequently asked questions

Can I claim the Sportingbet welcome offer if I had an account years ago?

No. The terms reserve sign up promotions for people who have never opened or funded an account with the brand, however old the previous account is.

My partner already has Sportingbet. Can I still get the offer?

Reviews say the offer is limited to one per household, so a second account at the same address should not expect to receive it.

Why can't I register at Sportingbet when I have a Coral account?

Coral, bwin, PartyPoker and Sportingbet operate under the same licence, and no new accounts are permitted across those brands. Accounts opened before 1 July 2026 may be kept.

Can I use a Wise or N26 card for the Sportingbet welcome offer?

No. Cards issued by Money Service Businesses, including Wise, N26 and Post Office Travel, have not been accepted since 15 July 2020. Use a debit card from a high-street bank in your name.

Does a cashed-out bet count for the Sportingbet welcome challenge?

No. Cashed-out bets, including partial cash outs, are excluded at the time of writing. The sign-up bonus walkthrough shows how to opt in and place qualifying bets in the right order.
